Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 July 2026

The short version: Your chess games and their analysis stay on your own computer — we don't collect or store them. The only personal information we hold is what's needed to run the business: your email, your licence/activation details, and anything you send us. We don't sell your data.

This policy explains how E-Leader ("ChessMend", "we", "us") handles personal information for chessmend.com and the ChessMend software. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What stays on your device

Your imported games, the engine analysis of them, your puzzles, stats and settings are stored locally on your computer. They are not uploaded to us and we cannot see them. If you uninstall the Software or delete its data folder, that information is gone from your side; we never had a copy.

2. What we collect

3. How we use it

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use your email for unrelated marketing without your consent.

4. Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary with service providers who help us operate, for example:

Some of these providers may be located overseas, which means your information may be handled outside Australia. We only disclose what's needed for them to perform their function, and we may disclose information where required by law.

5. Cookies

The website uses cookies for basic functionality and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking them may affect some features.

6. How long we keep it

We keep purchase and licence records for as long as needed to support your licence and to meet legal and tax obligations, then delete or de-identify them. Support emails and update-notification subscriptions are kept until they're no longer needed or you ask us to remove them.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. Licences are cryptographically signed, and access to our systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but because your games never leave your device, the most sensitive part of your ChessMend activity is never exposed to us in the first place.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, unsubscribe from emails, or ask us to delete your details (subject to records we must keep by law). Email hello@chessmend.com and we'll help. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a privacy issue, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

9. Children

ChessMend isn't aimed at young children and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If a parent or guardian believes we hold a child's information, contact us and we'll remove it.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; the current version always lives at this address, with the "last updated" date above.

11. Contact
